The Parisian Eiffel Company was the constructor of Western Railway Station’s huge iron-framed hall. The railway station is kept part of the cityscape even today.
The hall designed by the Parisian Eiffel-Studio and August de Serres, is a magnificent example of the architectural use of cast iron frames considered very modern in the late 1800s.
As the time of its opening in 1877, with its hall of 6,153 meters square and 25 meters high, and with is additional buildings, it was the fifth largest railway station in the world.
