One of Budapest’s greatest assets and most defining characterics is the Danube River that runs right through it. While there are concrete banks on either side of the downtown section of the river, those seeking a more beach-like atmosphere can find it at Római Part. This is a small section of riverbank in Óbuda, the northern area of Buda, where you can stroll, picnic, sunbath, enjoy sports facilities, or dine at a small Csárda (a typical Hungarian restaurant). It’s a bit out of the center, which is what makes it so charming. This section of riverbank is quiet and peaceful, allowing you to relax and enjoy the warm weather. To get there, take bus 106 from the Pest side of Árpád Bridge, or Szentlélek tér on the Buda side, to the Nánási út stop and then walk down to the river. Or, alternatively go for a nice bike ride along the path that follows the Buda side of the river.
