Bearing a resemblance to a giant UFO, the newly built Budapest Sport Arena is an important venue for both sport events and cultural events. As the only venue large enough to hold several thousand visitors (at maximum capacity it holds 12,500), it is Budapest’s largest event site and host to concerts, sporting events, expositions, and theater performances among others. The arena was renamed after László Papp, a great Hungarian boxer, in 2004. Although it is a bit out of the center of the city, it is easily accessible by metro, bus, and tram, and if you are interested in seeing a major event it is worth a visit. The arena is able to accommodate and offer many important events of all types throughout the year using the most modern technologies. There is even a park built on top of the parking garage where you can relax or meet friends before attending one of the big-name events.
