Perhaps one of Budapest’s best and largest treasures, the City Park is both a fantastic park in the traditional sense as well as home to many attractions. Originally a marshland, according to the first written record of 1241, the park was later formed with the help of forestation efforts. It also served as the location for the important historical Millennium Celebration of 1896 that honored the 1,000th anniversary of the settlement of Hungary, bringing many of the buildings and attractions that remain for your delight today.
A great place to spend a day outside enjoying the fresh air and natural beauty, the park is also home to the Budapest Zoo, the Transport Museum, the Municipal Circus, the Vajdahunyad Castle, the ice rink, and Széchenyi Thermal Baths, among other places to visit. So, pack a picnic and bring a friend to spend a day in this beautiful park and the many activities has to offer!
