The Merlin Jazz Club, V Gerlóczy utca 4, around the corner from Károly körút 28 (metro: Deák tér), has live music nightly from 10 p.m.

The Jazz Café in a cellar at V Balassi Bálint 25 is flooded in blue light that makes the smoky air even denser, and the music starts at 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. From Tuesday to Saturday nights, the Made Inn Club, VI Andrássy út 112 (metro: Bajza utca), presents live Latin American music, acoustic poor blues.

The Petõfi Csarnok at XIV Zichy Mihály utca 14 in the City Park is the main place for rock concerts. It’s great if you get tickets as the hall is small enough to get really close to the performers. The táncház evenings at the Petõfi Csarnok give you the opportunity to learn folk dancing. Ask about the Sirtos Greek dancing on Sunday evening as this attracts lots of young people who form massive circles and dance to the lively Greek folk music. The Petõfi Csarnok produces a monthly programme available at the information counter. You can reach the Petõfi Csarnok easily on trolley bus No 72 or 74 or take the metro to Széchenyi Fürdõ.

Another place to go to listen to jazz is the Dokk-jazz bistro at III. Hajógyári Sziget 122. (Hajógyár Island). Live jazz from Monday to Saturday.
