What to Bring to Hungary?

There are no particular items of clothing to remember – an umbrella in late spring and autumn, a warm hat (everyone wears them) in winter – unless you plan to do some serious hiking or other sport. A swimsuit for use in the mixed-sex thermal spas and pools is a good idea as are sandals or thongs (flip-flops). For more information on the weather on Hungary go visit this page.

If you plan to stay at hostels and colleges, pack or buy a towel and a plastic soap container.

Bedclothes are usually provided, though you might want to bring your own sheet bag. An immersion coil to heat water in a cup is handy if you don’t fancy weak Hungarian tea or coffee in the morning.

You’ll sleep easier with a padlock on one of the storage lockers provided at hostels.
