There are three terminals at Budapest’s Ferihegy airport (Terminal 1, Terminal 2A and 2B), which are 24 km south-east ofthe capital. MALEV flight depart from/arrive at terminal 2A, while flights operated by other airlines do so from/at terminal 2B. Low cost airlines mostly use Terminal 1. Makesure you know which terminal you are traveling to/from.

All passenger planes land at either Ferihegy 1 (mainly on budget airlines) or Ferihegy 2 (on non-budget airlines), though they are not interconnectable. A bus runs from one airport to the other (and costs 500 HUF). Ferihegy 2 is itself split into two terminals, A and B. Phones can be found in the arrival halls of each. You can buy phone cards (800 HUF) at the Airport Minibus counter, and there are plenty of ATMs around to use. The currency exchange counters in Terminal A and B tend to have the same rates, however, we suggest to use ATMs for withdrawal cash (you get better rates).

Malev Hungarian Airlines,the national carrier, flies direct to Budapest Ferihegy airport to/from the USA and morethan 30 European cities. Other destinations include Bangkok, Cairo, Damascus, Larnaca andTel Aviv.

If you must take a taxi,the fares posted at the airport are 5000-8000 Ft to Pest/Buda/Buda Hills. If you call a cab it will be cheaper, around HUF 4000 and over. Some companies have a special flat fare to the airport from anywhere in Budapest. More on taxis (fares and regulations, the best options etc.) The winner of the airport taxi tender promised to lower the prices, however, they do not have enough cabs at the moment and waiting time can be as much as 30 minutes.

The Airport Minibus Service (t: 296 8555) picks up passengers wherever they’re staying - hotel, hostel or private home and takes you there from/to the airport.  Remember: this service takes you to the hotel direct! Tickets into the city are available in the airport arrival halls.

The cheapest way to get to the airport is to take the blue metro (M3) to the end of the line (the Kõbánya-Kispest terminal) and board bus No 93. If you want to get to the city, get on bus No. 93. at the airport (the bus stop is right in front ofthe airport-building) and in Kõbánya-Kispest you can take the underground (M3,the blue line). Some hotels has got a "hoteltaxi" service, it means the hotel pays the taxi fees, other hotel has got a special agreement with some cab companies, it means you pay a special rate to the hotel, ask more about it or check the hotel on its web page.
