In spring 2011 the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest launched a comprehensive program (Budapest Mummy Project) devoted to the interdisciplinary research of four mummified bodies in the Egyptian Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest.

The Chinese Terracotta Army in Budapest
Th e Quin Empire has been the fi rst unifi ed, centralized, multiethnic feudal state in Chinese history. Quin Shihuang has risen to the throne in 259 B.C., at the age of thirteen. Construction began immediately to raise his tomb, the grave of the fi rst Chinese emperor. It was built by 720000 slaves in the city of Xi’an for 38 years. A section of Quin Shihuang’s tomb was uncovered in 1974 while drilling a well. Th e hole hid thousands of terracotta soldiers, along with their horses. Th is valuable treasure of human culture was declared to be part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Now the Chinese army of clay is marching in Budapest. Th e 200 terracotta soldiers and four war chariots with horses exhibited in the AsiaCenter are high quality copies of the archeological fi ndings. Th e objects displayed at the exhibit prove just how advanced Chinese art has been nearly two thousand years ago.

Everybody should see the „Hungarian Versailles”, the palace in Gödöllő, which is located only 30 km from Budapest. The palace is one of the most beautiful ensembles of baroque buildings. The palace was built (1735-1749) by the secret counselor of Maria Theresa.
