The Budapest Zoo is a conservation and research center with internationally recognized breeding programs for endangered native and exotic species. Home to the leading animal collection in Eastern Europe with more than 2,000 animals, the population is of international repute. In addition, one can view ancient Hungarian livestock in the „ Farm in the Metropolis”, a peasant farm of period buildings from upper Tisza region.
