Plot:
Artists arrive in the theater and start preparing for the performance. They are getting out the costumes, accessories, memorizing lines and trying on the clothes and decorating. All of this is happening to the well-known music of Mendelssohn. By the end of the overture we get to know the characters, their relationships, the mysterious forest of Ardennes is ready, where everything can happen and does happen.

Starts with the dance of Puck and the fairies, and Titania and Oberon appears. They have a big argument, and Oberon asks for a mysterious flower from Puck. Puck gets the flower, then disapears. Hermina and Lysander goes into the forest, they are tired and go to sleep. Some craftsman arrive and rehearse the play they are performing at the wedding of Theseus, but Zuboly disappears. Later he appears as a donkey, and frights his friends. Titania under the spell founds the beauty in him. Their aesthetical love dance completes the first act.

Lyander and Hermina are in a deep sleep and Puck enchants Lysander. Helena, who followed Demetrius, but was turned down, sees the sleeping Lysander and wakes him. Lysander inflamed, chases her with his hot-tempered passionate love. Hermina wakes also, and upon seeing that her love is not there anymore, starts to look for him. Demetrius is tired, trudging in the forest and Puck enchants him also, to fix his mistake in mixing up the couples. But this only makes things more complicated...
