Vyssotsky exhibition to open in Budapest
An exhibition marking the 70th birth anniversary of Russian actor, poet and singer Vladimir Vyssotsky will open in Budapest`s Petofi Literary Museum on January 11, organisers told MTI. Photos, recordings of poems and songs as well as films will evoke the life achievement of Vyssotsky (1938-1970). At the same time, objects from the 1970`s will be on display to create an atmosphere of the Soviet Union in the Brezhnev era. Vyssotsky, a charismatic and tragic artist, a freedom fighter and the star of theatre shows was considered an icon and hero by many not only in the Soviet Union but across the intelligentsia of the whole Socialist bloc. His funeral, attended by several hundred thousand people, became a silent protest against the inhumanity of communism, the museum said in a statement.
