Laurie Anderson returns to Bp
It`s hard to imagine a major figure of the pop-art music scene of the 1980s New Wave era hitting the august age of 60, but Laurie Anderson is indeed 60 this year, and she`s coming to Budapest`s Palace of Arts on June 11 and 12 to celebrate and promote her new CD as part of a tour. The spiky-haired, rich-voiced guru of electronic music for the sophisticated pop music scene released her first album 25 years ago and, since that time, has made many more, including Big Science, Mister Heartbreak, United States Live, Bright Red, and many more.
The New York-based Anderson has done much more than music.
Visual arts, film, performance art and even story collecting have been a part of her varied life`s work.
Her artwork has been shown in major museums in the USA and Europe.
Her concert performances are often a one-woman multi-media show of video visuals, electronic gizmos, electric violin, and snippets of story and song, all combined through her unmistakable, soothing voice.
Anderson last performed in Budapest in 1995, when she was involved in The Nerve Bible project.
