Spa treatments

1. The lake of Hévíz
Hévíz is one of the best-knowns spa resorts in Europe. It's located in the heart of the Pannon-basin in a sheltered surrounding. The lake, nourished by a thermal source from an early geological period, is unique of its kind in the world. It has a water-surface of 47.500,- m2 . The thermal source gives 20.000 l pro min. and that way the lake's water is renewing every 72 hours. The temperature of the water is 33-35°C in summer and rarely falls under 24°C even in winter.

2. The mud of Hévíz lake
The curative effect of the mud covering the bottom of the lake is especially strong. This mud can be positioned between the purely inorganic mud and the fango, with high organic content. As in dehydrated state it consists in 20% of organic components it's heat storing capacity is very high. Main components are the different plant fibres. It's inorganic part consists mainly of calcium and magnesium carbonates, sulphates and low quantity of radon. This mud mixed by the lake's water is used in form of packs.

3. The cure of Hévíz
There are different types of cures in Hévíz:
traditional cures (the sulphurous thermal water, the thermal lake, the mud, the traction bath, mechano-, electro-, and kinesitherapies, diets the components above used in a complex way under medical control)
health-preservation cures, wellness and fasting programs (fitness check-up, diets, motion and free-time programs complemented by other treatments)
beauty programs (cosmetic cures, diet and life-style advice complemented by bathing cure and motion programs)

4. Treatments

New! Thermovision-examination

This is a new type of examination, where a picture of the body is taken showing infrared rays radiated from the human body. That way it makes possible to examine the biological state of the organism.
Basic advantage: it's harmless for the health and gives an immidiate result, that's why it's very suitable for following of the effects of the treatments.


Our guest can take the following treatments at our spa center after the medical examination:
Balneo- and hydrotherapy:

thermalbath:
the great success is achieved by the complex use of the different treatments: the beneficial effects of the water, the mud and other treatments. It's used combined with other physiotherapy treatments - for prevention, healing and rehabilitation of the locomotor disorders and as follow-up treatment after operations.
carbon dioxide bath:
it's a bath in carbonated water. During the treatment the capillaries of the skin dilate, so the blood pressure decreases and the heart's capacity increases.It's recommended in case of circulatory disorders.
alternating bath:
the extremities are treated with jets of cold and hot water alternately to improve the blood circulation. There is at least 20°C difference between the temperature of the water jets.
traction bath:
it was invented and developed by the balneologist, Dr. Károly Moll from Hévíz. The underwater traction is applied in case of degenerative spine and extremity disorders, vertebral disc aches and pains. The longitudinal traction releases the trapped nerve and relieves the pain.
mud pack:
it's used at 38 42°C. It's applied for the treatment of chronic spine and extremity joint degeneration, myalgia and as post-operation treatment.
underwater jet massage:
this massage is made by water jets at 0,5 2,5 atm. It's used for strengthing the muscles, improving the blood circulation and treating sprains and bruises.

Mechanotherapy:

medical massage:
it means mechanical stimuli, which influence the function of the cells and tissues first of all locally, and due to the reflexes also in other organs. It's applied for improving the strength of the muscles, their metabolism and flexibility. It improves the blood circulation, which stimulates kidney secretion and relieves the strain on the heart.
foot reflex zone massage:
it's a segment massage. The purpose is to break the harmful circle of reflexes and to influence the functional disturbances of the organs.
ultrasound treatment:
it's a micro-massage made by sound-waves. Application field: spinal and joint wear, muscular cramps and neuralgia.
sonophoresis:
it means putting medicines into the organism by ultrasound treatment.

Kinesitherapy:

medical gymnastics: it consists of series of therapeutic exercises, which improve the function of the different parts of the body by consecutive stimuli.
The stimulus for motion plays an important role in creating, maintaining and recreating the bone's strength and in improvement of the muscular strength.
water gymnastics:
its purpose is the same as mentioned at the medical gymnastics. In these exercises helps also the buoyancy.
open-air gymnastics:
it consists of series of open-air exercises which improves the fitness.

Electrotherapy:

electric bath:
it means using of galvanic current in water. It's recommended in case of chronich rheumatism and neuralgic pains. It has a pain-killing effect and improves the blood-circulation.
four-cell electric bath:
it means using of galvanic current in water for the extremities. Indication: the same as at electric bath.
galvanic treatment:
direct current is conducted through the affected parts of the body. It has a pain-killing, relieving and antiphlogistic effect and it improves circulation as well.
iontophoresis:
it means putting medicines into the organism by galvanic current. It's recommended in case of arthritis and tendovaginitis.
diadinamic current therapy:
it's a special type of electric current. It has a pain-killing effect. Application's field: sprains, bruises, oedemans, spine and joint wear and disc degeneration.
interference current treatment:
this electric treatment is a very effective pain-killer and has a very favourable effect on the deep tissues, however it doesn't irritate the sensitive receptors of the skin.
TENS:
the nervefibres will be stimulated by electric way. Ithas a pain-killing effect.

Fototherapy:

infrared radiation:
it is a heat-treatment which stimulates the circulation and has a pain-killing effect. Application's field: intercostal and occipital neuralgia, and inflammations of the accessory cavities of the ears and nose.
solarium:
evolite therapy

Magnetotherapy:

the ion-migration in the pulsating magnetic field improves the metabolism and the exchange of oxygen and carbon-dioxyde.

Inhalation: aerosol

Oxygen therapy:

Its purpose is to increase the oxygen quantity of the blood and to improve the efficiency of the body.
