he residence, originally built in classicist style in 1806 and
later extended, used to belong to the Podmaniczky family. The beautifully restored castle
has 23 floor- heated rooms that meet all modern needs. The building, decorated with Ionic
columns and a pillared portico, has large adjoining rooms on the ground floor that are
ideal for conferences, receptions or weddings. In the vaulted cellar there is a sauna, a
cross-current pool, bowling alleys and a bar decorated with ceramic figures of mediaeval
knights.
he lovely restaurant is in the side wing. Between the shady trees
quiet paths lead to a clearing of a playground equipped with wooden toys. There glimmers
the blue water of the two swimming pools, one of them is for the children. There are two
tennis courts and a basketball court and visitors can ride horses or cycle. Besides seeing
the sights of Budapest, it is well worth taking a trip to the Gödöllő Royal castle, the
park of rare plants and trees in Vácrátót, the village of Hollókő, famous for its
folk-style houses and clothing and the castle of Szirák.
